Meet Our Board
The MSSPA Board of Directors is composed of dedicated leaders and professionals who share a common mission—to strengthen and empower the multicultural Spanish-speaking provider community through collaboration, advocacy, and education.
Maria Arese, MSSPA Board Member.
Maria Arese brings over 25 years of experience in education, specializing in the development of children aged 0–5. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sciences, Early Childhood Education Leadership, and a Bachelor's Degree in Art, Early Childhood Community.
Her primary motivation for joining MSSPA is to identify and address systemic barriers affecting Latina/o/x early childhood educators, teachers, and directors in the District of Columbia. She contributes a unique perspective, drawn from her experience working with diverse ages, programs, and families, and her commitment to inclusive educational leadership.
Maria's educational philosophy centers on active and participatory learning, reflected in her belief that "Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn." This philosophy emphasizes the importance of engaging children in the learning process, making knowledge meaningful and lasting.
