Blanca Huezo is originally from El Salvador and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Community Education at Trinity Washington University. She has worked in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) field since 2013, serving in both educator and center administrator roles. Her desire to advance in the profession, combined with the lack of opportunities and barriers faced by Spanish-speaking educators, led her to join the Multicultural Spanish Speaking Providers Association (MSSPA) in 2022.

At MSSPA, Blanca immediately connected with the organization’s mission to support educators in overcoming systemic barriers. Under the mentorship of MSSPA’s Executive Director, Mrs. Teresa Aspinwall, she began her leadership and advocacy journey. Since then, she has played a key role in supporting more than 1,000 educators to enroll in bilingual Spanish-English and Amharic-English Associate of Arts programs in Early Childhood Education at the Community College of the University of the District of Columbia (UDC-CC).

Blanca’s work reflects a deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive education, with advocacy at the center of her mission. She not only designs programs and coordinates outreach, but also actively challenges systemic barriers that limit opportunities for mainly Spanish-speaking and immigrant educators. Through coalition building, mentorship, and policy engagement, she has helped expand access to higher education pathways and professional development for over 1,000 educators in Washington, D.C. Her leadership emphasizes amplifying the voices of Spanish-speaking and immigrant communities, ensuring they are represented in decision-making spaces.

Blanca’s vision is to continue strengthening networks of support and advancing advocacy efforts so that educators can thrive professionally, and Washington D.C. families and children can receive the high-quality, culturally relevant early childhood education they deserve.
